Rosanna, it's been a while...

Hey you,

Where have you been? Wow, life has been so crazy huh? So much has changed lately now that we're older. I can't believe we came across this old blog. How funny. You wanted to start blogging when you were in high school then totally gave up on it. Better yet, forgot about it.

We're much older now. It's no longer 2013; boy, does the time flies. Behind the greasy, black curtain here we are at 22 years of age in the year 2019. With our feet rested upon the gray, dusty shelf, we sit in a burnt orange, wooden chair with our back hunched down.

What happened to our big dreams? Where's the fresh smell of Korea grazing across our rosy cheeks? Life hit us hard. Much harder than we would have ever imagined. As a student in a high school, we're taught to study hard and get good grades. Perhaps, we'll get the chance to go to a good college or better yet, earn a scholarship. Who knew after the age of 18 that being an adult, the only thing we've ever wanted more than our Saturday morning cartoon shows, meant a countless cycle of work, bills, and stress. Boy, if I could go back in time. I'd tell the younger me to "slow down" and "live life a little ". Maybe even "Don't be so quick to grow up too fast." Wow, I sound like my aunt. But who knew?! Who knew life would take its course and knock us out. I guess she did...

No one tells you that life is about finding who you really are as a person. As a kid, you're taught to play with your toys and go to school. Now that we're older, I finally understand it. What it really means to truly love yourself and respect yourself. As we get older in life, we slowly learn we need to take time to nurture and feed our soul. Have you ever looked in the mirror and just stared at yourself? Asking yourself, "Is this what I really actually look like?" or "Who am I?". There's always that one voice in your head, your inner self. If you really think about it, you are your own enemy at times. It's a battle inside to finding the real you. It's as if we're a soul living in someone else's body. As we learn more to life, we learn more to ourselves.

If there is one important thing I would want to tell my kids one day, it would be "Always stay true to who you are. Learn to love yourself from within. People's opinions do not matter. What people say will always be negative words and thoughts to bring you down. You are your own key to the journey of happiness and success. Life will come as it is and you will grow more wiser everyday. Go to school to learn. Do not worry too much as for a job or a career path, but rather take the time to learn who you are as a person. Find what it is you love to most and what you hate the most. Do not fall into the endless cycle of the "American Dream" of going to college, getting into debt, finding a job, then wasting the rest of your life away. When you find what you love, use that as your source of power to create wealth from it. A job is only a job. What you do in life if your choice. Do not let a title define who you are as a person because when you are lost in a forest, you will not be a "doctor" or "lawyer" who is lost. You are you who is lost. You are the most powerful person in the world if you learn to love yourself, respect yourself, and care for yourself. Don't doubt yourself because you are more than worthy of doing anything you want in this world. Friends will come and go. Learn to surround yourself with like-minded people who will benefit you. The amount of friends do not matter, but the quality of a friendship is what counts the most. When you will be at your lowest, who will be there to have your back? When you lose your way, who will find you and bring you home? Be a good person and have integrity; do the right thing even when no one's watching. Live a good life. Don't kill bugs because taking a life is still murder. Return carts to where they belong because you're helping someone with their job. Always be open-minded and never naive. Learn to put yourself in someone else's shoes. While you're complaining about not wanting whip cream on your ice-cream, a family may be eating cabbage soup for the fourth day in a row before they head off to bed in their broken down mini-van. Be humble and stay kind. Life will get hard. Or it may even be easy for some. What ever you choose is up to you. Life is only of what you make of it."

Sincerely,

Me
